About
I am a retired teacher back in university after 40 years to pursue research interests. An organist and choral conductor with a lifetime in church music. Liturgy is familiar territory.
I have completed an Honours dissertation on the Night Office of St David of Wales and its source, that for St Thomas Becket, both in the 14th century Penpont Antiphonal in Wales. Besides the purely liturgical and analytical, it draws in Celtic history, Welsh/Anglo-Saxon history, Arthurian legend, Grail, literary angles on psalmody, political history...
And now in 2011, I have begun my MMus thesis on a 15th century Dutch Antiphonal - MSR-03 in NZ Alexander Turnbull Library. It will become "NZ Watl MSR-03" in the CANTUS database one day - NZ's first listing. A work by independent minded Augustinian nuns in 15th century Amersfoort, Holland.
