About
I have taught on 34 papers since 2002 at Auckland University and Massey University on Film, TV and Media Studies, Medicine and the Media and Women's Studies. My research interests include advertising, social networking and the War on Terror. I am currently completing my PhD thesis on the rise of splatter films after 9/11, focusing in particular on how they function as an avatar for circulating discourses on the limits and justifications for state violence and torture.
I am also a blogger for www.tumeke.blogspot.com, which ranks in the top 10 for New Zealand blogs and a former member of ALT TV's 'Sunday News Roast Club'. I am currently a panelist on Stratos' Citizen A, which screens at 7pm on Thursday nights and is replayed on Sky 89 and Freeview at 8pm Sundays. My recent work history includes roles in academic publishing and representing the film industry.
